The team of the MetPhil project (Croatian Science Foundation IP-2022-10-2550) is pleased to announce the thirteenth workshop in the series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The workshop will be held on\u00a0Thursday<\/strong>,\u00a0October 30th<\/strong>\u00a0at\u00a018.00 CET<\/strong>\u00a0over the\u00a0Zoom<\/strong>\u00a0platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The topic of the workshop will be a talk given by Professor\u00a0Justin Weinberg<\/strong>\u00a0who is an\u00a0Associate Professor<\/strong>\u00a0at the\u00a0Department of Philosophy<\/strong>,\u00a0McCausland College of Arts and Sciences<\/strong>, University of South Carolina<\/strong>. The title of the talk is \u201cArtificial Philosophy<\/strong>\u201c.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Talk Summary: <\/strong>Many philosophers hold that the (primary) aim of philosophy is or involves obtaining correct answers to big philosophical questions. There are many tasks necessary for making progress towards that aim which seem practically impossible for humans, individually or collectively. Meanwhile, technological developments suggest that in the near future,\u00a0artificial\u00a0intelligence will be able to complete these tasks. This paper takes up this question: what does reflection on this possibility, and our reaction to it, tell us about the aims of philosophy?<\/p>\n\n\n\n This workshop will consist of a presentation followed by a moderated discussion.
