We’re please to announce that postdoctoral researcher dr.sc. Vito Balorda (alongside his co-author dr. sc. Tamara Crnko) participated in the Pint of Science Festival 2025 in Rijeka, Croatia. Pint of Science is a yearly festival of science that is organized throughout the world with the goal of promoting science.
Balorda and Crnko held the talk titled “Znanost na aparatima? Filozofi dolaze u pomoć!” in which they examined the ways in which philosophy can contribute towards overcoming the communication gap between science and the general public. Overcoming this gap is a key component in answering various conspiracy theories and distrust towards science. Balorda and Crnko maintain that philosophy can help in overcoming the communication gap in the following two ways: (i) translating complex scientific content to the public vocabulary and identifying logical errors, and (ii) identifying values and identities of individuals in society and the value of structuring neutral debates which take into account different opinions.
